Suicide tendencies rise among Israeli soldiers amid Gaza war

Tehran, IRNA - Israeli military personnel are increasingly thinking about suicide, prompting authorities to set up rehabilitation centers to treat them for mental issues, according to the Israeli media.

The Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that the Israeli army has formed psychological teams comprising nurses and psychiatrists to aid soldiers experiencing suicidal tendencies and suffering from war-related anxiety.

This follows another report by the news network Kan that over 2,000 military personnel engaged in ground warfare in the Gaza Strip sought psychiatric help due to mental and psychological issues.

The report further said that these soldiers, who have been psychologically and emotionally affected due to the ground invasion of Gaza, are being treated by mental health officers.

Suicides among Israeli soldiers have become a trend, with media repeatedly reporting on incidents of self-immolation, hanging, and self-inflicted gunshot wounds by military forces.
